All apartments on Rentaplacenow.com are routinely inspected by our agents to update pictures and ensure that the listed details are as accurate as possible. But despite Rent a Place's quality controls, what happens if I don’t like the apartment when I move in?
Major Issues
If you believe that the apartment is not at all as described in the listing, or if there are any major and undisclosed structural, safety or sanitation issues in the building that cannot be remedied by the landlord within a reasonable time, contact us immediately at info@rentaplacenow.com to open a claim within the first 48 hours of your stay. You will be eligible for a full refund but you must substantiate your claim with photos or videos. An agent would subsequently be assigned to your case to help you find another place to stay immediately.
Minor issues
If the issue(s) identified in your claim are deemed to be solvable within a timely fashion, or if they are otherwise deemed to be "esthetic" in nature, Rent a Place will request the landlord to address the issue or find a compromise. If the issue cannot be resolved in a reasonable fashion, you can choose to cancel your booking and claim a full refund of your last-month's rent, or you can transfer your booking to any other room on our website.
Exclusions
i) If you rented a room in a flatshare, it is reasonable to assume that the common areas might not be 100% clean by the time you move-in because they may already be in use by other tenants. A refund claim on the basis that the common areas are not tidy or clean while occupied by other tenants will generally be declined. Your private room should however be in order and clean.
ii) If you move-in prior to the check-in date displayed in your booking, the check-in guarantee is automatically void since you would be moving into a unit under less than ideal conditions, before any inspection from our agents.
iii) If you intend to move-in prior or after the date displayed in your booking, you must notify Rent a Place of this change to ensure an agent can inspect the room at most 24 hours before you move-in.
